Meriel specialises in botanical illustration using watercolour and has been inspired by working at the Lost Gardens of Heligan and later at the Eden Project, where she was a pivotal member of the Friends team. She holds an RHS Silver Lindley medal for her exhibit Fungi Found at the Eden Project.
She is Chairman of the South West Society of Botanical Artists (SWSBA), founded in 2006 to promote and encourage a high standard in botanical art throughout the South West of England. The Society fosters links with similar groups as well as botanical, educational and conservation institutions and organises meetings, talks, courses, workshops, visits and exhibitions for its members.
Her work can be seen at the SWSBA Summer Exhibition at the Meeting House Arts Centre, Ilminster, 26 May - 19 June 2009.
